Leprosy awareness rally

February 03, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - Thoothukudi:

In a bid to raise awareness about leprosy eradication, campaigners launched a bike rally here on Tuesday.

The rally was flagged off by Collector M. Ravikumar. A series of awareness programmes of leprosy, a curable disease, including rally, seminars, and specials camps to render medical assistance to people living with leprosy and differently abled persons would be organised.

During such camps, welfare assistances would also be extended. The World Leprosy Eradication Day is observed on January 30 every year on the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The programmes were scheduled to be held until February 13.
