The district administration has issued a flood alert as the water level in Krishnagiri reservoir continued to raise at an alarming speed.
The reservoir that has a capacity to hold 52ft water already has 50ft water.
The inflow of water is 622 cusecs, whereas the outflow is just about 12 cusecs.
District Collector T.P. Rajesh said that a flood alert was issued when the water level touches 48ft mark.
The water level at Kelavarapalli Dam has touched 42.32ft as against its carrying capacity of 44ft. The inflow of water was 680 cusecs.
Those living in low-lying areas of river Thenpennai have been asked not to attempt crossing of the river. Tahsildars of Hosur, Krishnagiri, Pochampalli, Denkanikottai, and Uthangarai have been made asked to make necessary arrangements, the Collector said. Dharmapuri District Collector too has been alerted. Mr. Rajesh said that a flood control room has been set up to meet any eventuality.
