The three-day ‘Kodai Kondattam,’ an entertainment programme, got off to a colourful start here on Friday evening.

Minister for Tourism S.P. Shanmuganathan inaugurated the programme at Pearl City beach in Tuticorin in the presence of Collector M. Ravikumar and Tuticorin Sub Collector S. Gopala Sundara Raj. The Minister said similar programmes would be held every year.

The State government has allocated more funds towards developing tourism. Scores of visitors thronged the beach anticipating the inauguration.

The programme organised by the District Administration in association with Department of Tourism offered a variety of entertainment for visitors on the sands of the beach. Enjoying the gentle evening breeze, the visitors spent time watching cultural programmes. Much to their delight, the visitors had options in tasting food items.

With 20 stalls in place, ready-to-eat delicacies, fish items, biriyani and other delicious food items were available. The free entry programme would go on from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Pet show would be held at the beach on Sunday and hence the Collector asked the pet lovers to utilize this opportunity.
