The gold jewels of a close relative of the bridegroom kept in one of the rooms in a marriage hall in School Street in Ambur were found missing just before the `Muhurtham’ on Friday morning.

According to police sources, the relative (a woman) had kept the jewels on the cot in the room where she was staying.

She found them missing when she returned to the room after going out for a brief while just before the `Muhurtham’.

On a complaint, police officials led by Saravanan, Inspector of Police, Ambur Town Police Station visited the marriage hall and conducted enquiries with the guests and employees of the hall.

R. Tamilchandran, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Vellore Range also visited the marriage hall and conducted enquiries.

No written complaint has so far been received by the police from the person who lost the jewellery, according to Mr. Saravanan.
