Jayalalithaa asks Ministers to implement precautionary measures

Even as the north-east monsoon turned vigorous, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesday asked her Ministers to ensure the implementation of precautionary measures in 12 coastal districts.

Chennai was not included in the list of the coastal districts, according to an official release.

Handlooms and Textiles Minister B.V. Ramana will be in-charge of Tiruvallur District; Environment Minister T.K.M. Chinnayya – Kancheepuram; Special Programme Implementation Minister M.C. Sampath and Social Welfare Minister Selvi Ramajayam – Cuddalore; School Education Minister C.Ve. Shanmugam – Villupuram; Fisheries Minister K.A. Jayapal – Nagapattinam; Housing Minister R. Vaithilingam – Thanjavur and Tiruvarur; Adi-Dravidar Welfare Minister N. Subramanian – Pudukottai; Cooperation Minister Sellur K. Raju and Information Technology Minister R.B Udhayakumar – Ramanathapuram; Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister S.P. Shanmuganathan and Labour Minister S.T Chellapandian – Tuticorin; Khadi and Village Industries Minister P. Chendur Pandian – Tirunelveli and Forest Minister K.T. Pachamal – Kanyakumari.

The release stated that the intensity of rainfall is expected to go up in the next one week.
