Jail warder hurt in attack

Thirty-year-old Premkumar, Grade-2 warder in the Central Prison for Men, Vellore, was attacked by two unidentified persons on Central Jail Road while returning home after duty hours on Sunday evening.

Mr. Premkumar, a native of Madurai district, sustained injuries on his forehead. It is suspected that some persons accused in criminal cases and out on bail attacked him owing to previous enmity. The injured warder was rushed to the Government Vellore Medical College Hospital, Adukkamparai, from where he was referred to the Christian Medical College Hospital.
