I. Devadoss, Inspector of Police attached to Anti-Land Grab Wing of the district police, was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from a person for deleting his name from a first information report here on Thursday.
Trap laid
Sleuths of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption laid a trap for Mr. Devadoss in a private lodge on District Court Road.
To remove names
A team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DVAC) C. S. Rajan Roy, arrested the Inspector while accepting the money to remove the names of Babu Antony and his wife from a land grab case.
He was produced before a local court and remanded in judicial custody.
Mr. Roy told The Hindu that the Inspector had demanded Rs. 50,000 as bribe from Babu Antony of Parvathipuram
