Iluppur town in the district has been blessed with a bouquet of infrastructure schemes, thanks to the upgrading of its status to a revenue sub-division.

Works on the construction of various buildings such as the offices of the Revenue Divisional Officer and Regional Transport Officer, apartments by the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board and depot for the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation are some of the new facilities coming up in the town.

Work on the two-storey Revenue Divisional Officer’s office was taken up in October last year at an estimate of Rs.1.64 crore. The plinth area of each floor would be 385 square metres. While the ground floor would accommodate the chamber of the Revenue Divisional Officer, a court hall, and the office wing, the first floor would be used mainly for stocking records.

Accompanied by officials, C.Vijaya Baskar, Minister for Health, inspected the progress of the work. S.Ganesh, District Collector, was present.

Earlier, the Minister declared open a part-time ration shop at Poolankalam near Kodumbalur and Kalingipatti near Raapoosal villages. He also gave away gold weighing 1.12 kg valued at Rs.28.28 lakh under the ‘marriage assistance scheme’.
