H.Raja condemns IIT-M for yielding to pressure

‘APSC’s anti-hindu pamphlets are not IIT’s internal matter’

June 11, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - Tiruvannamalai:

BJP leader H. Raja condemns Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) for reinstating recognition for Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle (APSC) ‘yielding to pressure’.

Speaking to reporters here he said that the IIT-M administration said that there was no violation of rules by APSC. It is their internal matter but APSC’s anti-hindu pamphlets are not their internal matter to be left to them. The administration should have at least got undertaking from the APSC to not to publish those kinds of pamphlets in future.

While praising Ambedkar as freedom fighter Mr. Raja termed Periyar as anti national and objected to combining their names.

When asked why BJP government at the centre could not stop Sri Lanka from arresting Tamil Nadu fishermen Mr. Raja said that earlier Sri Lankan navy was killing Tamil Nadu fishermen and now they adopt a humane approach towards Tamil Nadu fishermen.

Not even a single Tamil Nadu fisherman was attacked in the last one year. But Sri Lanka’s one objection vis-à-vis the fishermen issue was just, he said adding that Sri Lankan government has banned their own fishermen from using certain types of fishing vessels in their national waters.

They say that they would allow Tamil Nadu fishermen to use the same types of vessels in their waters. Sri Lankan fishermen the Sri Lankan government wants to protect were also Tamils.

“All that I am asking is why the people supporting Sri Lankan Tamils are not supporting Sri Lankan Tamil fishermen. When Sri Lanka’s Tamil National Alliance (TNA) leaders visited Delhi recently they expressed two objections.

One is against Sri Lankan government for not implementing 13th amendment of constitution and another is against Indian government for Supporting Tamil Nadu fishermen who snatch livelihood of Sri Lankan Tamil fishermen. Those who espouse Sri Lankan Tamils’ cause should first resolve the conflict between Sri Lankan Tamil fishermen and TamilNadu fishermen,” Mr. Raja said.
