A special court here on Thursday concluded its hearing on a petition filed by A.G. Perarivalan, death convict in the Rajiv assassination case, seeking “effective monitoring” on the Multi-Disciplinary Monitoring Authority, a wing of the CBI, which was constituted in 1999 to probe the larger conspiracy angle behind the killing.

In his plea, Perarivalan claimed that he would be affected by the outcome of the pending investigation by the MDMA, which was assigned to go into the larger conspiracy.

However, in its counter, the CBI said the petition was not maintainable.

‘No locus standi’

Perarivalan had no locus standi to file such a petition before the court, it said. N. Dhandapani, judge of the Designated Court, heard the arguments of both sides which lasted two hours. The judge adjourned the matter to December 10 .
