Getting passport made easy

The utility of Common e-Service Centres run by Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation Limited in Erode and five other taluks in the district has been optimised through incorporation of scope to apply for passport.

Online registration

After online registration, the applicants are provided information on when to approach the Passport Seva Kendra. Applicants would in all probability receive passport in a month’s time,

District Collector S. Prabakar said explaining about the utility of the provision at the Common e-Service Centre at the Erode Taluk Office on Monday.

There have been 33 applicants since September 24 when the provision was introduced in the district, he said.

The district administration has advised applicants to avail themselves of the utility of toll free phone number: 1800 11 22 11 for finer details.

One time registration with Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission and applying for its examinations has also been initiated since October 15 at the Common e-Service Centres.

While Rs. 100 is collected for the permanent registration, the centre collects Rs. 30 as service charge for making online application for the examinations.

Since their start during February this year, these centres have together issued 9,527 proofs of residence, 14,199 income certificates, 10,171 community certificates, and 1,567 ‘first generation graduate’ certificates, besides facilitating transfer of benefits to 2,457 applicants under marriage assistance scheme, 97 under child protection scheme, and issuing 21,814 Aadhar in colour plastic cards, officials said.
