Gelatine sticks seized

The Palladam police seized a total of 317 gelatine sticks from two stone quarries situated at Kodangipalayam near here during checks conducted on Monday night and Tuesday. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Palladam sub-division) S. Manoharan told The Hindu that two quarry owners, Prakash (33) and Chinnasamy (41), were arrested under Explosive Substances Act. “Though the quarries had the licences, the owners did not have any requisite authorisation to store the gelatine sticks and hence the seizure,” he said.
