Cashier robbed

An unidentified robber carrying a sickle allegedly robbed the cashier of a fuel station near Manonmaniam Sundaranar University of Rs. 2.58 lakh on Monday afternoon. Police sources said that the robber, wearing a helmet, came to the fuel station around 2.30 p.m., even as cashier Annadurai was taking the collection to be paid in the nearby bank. The robber forcibly took Rs. 2.58 lakh from him and escaped on a bike.

Manager of the fuel station Prince said the registration number on the number plate of the bike was not clear and hence he could not notice it.

“Instead of taking Tirunelveli– Tenkasi Road, he took the nearby mud road and escaped,” Mr. Prince said. Pettai police are investigating.
