Free books distributed to Government schools

Books meant for the students of Class VI to IX under the Samacheer Kalvi pattern were distributed to 203 Government schools, Government aided schools and Adi Dravidar welfare schools in Salem education district in the last few days.

The books meant for the first quarter of the next academic year were stocked at the Government Higher Secondary School, Mallur, near here. The headmasters and other representatives of the schools situated in Panamarathupatti, Attur, Thalaivasal, Gangavalli, Yercaud, Veerapandi, Vazhappadi towns and the surrounding areas collected the books from the Mallur school.

In Sankagiri education district, the free books under the Samacheer Kalvi scheme were distributed to 130 schools.

These books will be distributed to the students on June 1 itself, said sources in the Education Department.

Uniforms

The State Government also provided woollen clothes and full hand shirts to the students of the hilly areas and free uniforms to the students of the schools situated in the plains.

The distribution of free books to the students of Classes X and XII had already been completed in April itself.
