Forged signature: court orders probe

June 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - ERODE:

The Mahila Court here on Thursday instructed the Deputy Inspector General of Police and the Superintendent of Police to verify the signature in a charge sheet pertaining to abduction of a minor girl in Punjai Puliampatti.

Balamurugan, Inspector of Police, who was transferred three months after a case was registered against Anand Babu (23) and his six accomplices for allegedly abducting a Standard X girl at Pungampalli after attacking her mother on December 5, 2012, had claimed that he had not signed the charge sheet when called to submit evidence.

Hearing of the case registered under IPC sections 147, 366 A and 323 in the police station was transferred from the court of Sathy Judicial Magistrate to the Mahila Court.

The seven persons accused in the case were released on the premise that the charge sheet purportedly bore a forged signature. The judge Thirunavakarasu directed the police to initiate action against the person who had inked the forged signature.
