The district administration in Vellore and Tiruvannamalai distributed financial assistance to the needy on Thursday.
Vellore District Collector A. Shanmuga Sundram handed over assistance to the tune of ₹1.18 crore to 68 beneficiaries. Houses worth ₹45 lakh were given to 15 beneficiaries and assistance up to ₹12.84 lakh to five beneficiaries under the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) /Unemployed Youth Employment Generation Programme (UYEGP), and loans with subsidy to the tune of ₹53.57 lakh to entrepreneurs.
Colourful cultural programmes on various environmental by over 600 students stole the show at the event.
In Tiruvannamalai, District Collector K.S. Kandasamy presented welfare assistance to the tune of ₹3.96 crore to 1,101 beneficiaries. This included loans to the tune up to ₹2.24 crore to 508 self-help groups.
Colourful cultural programmes were presented by 686 students.
