Final electoral rolls for Vellore, Tiruvannamalai released

1,62,565 applications received seeking corrections, additions and deletions

Vellore Sub-Collector K. Meghraj released the final electoral roll for Vellore district on Thursday.

As per the roll, there are a total of 30,68,778 voters – 15,07,187 men, 15,61,446 women and 145 other gender voters – in the district.

According to Mr. Meghraj, the Election Commission of India (ECI) had directed to take up summary revision of electoral rolls with January 1, 2018, as the qualifying date and the draft rolls were released during the last week of September 2018.

The election department received as many as 1,62,565 applications after the release of the draft electoral rolls seeking corrections/additions and deletions.

Among the 13 Assembly constituencies, Gudiyatham constituency has the highest number of voters with 2,66,835, followed by Sholinghur with 2,59,869 voters. Kilvaithinankuppam has the lowest number of voters with 2,11, 821.

The electoral roll would be displayed at 1,648 polling stations from February 1. Public have been asked to verify if their names figured in the list. Tiruvannamalai collector K.S. Kandasamy released the final electorate list for the district at the Collectorate. As per the roll, there are a total of 19,71,317 voters – 9,71,811 men, 9,99,430 women and 76 other gender voters – in the district.

In both district, women voters outnumbered men. While there were 64,259 more women voters in Vellore district, in Tiruvannamalai there were more than 27,619 women voters.

Highest number

Among the eight Assembly constituencies, Tiruvannamalai constituency has the highest number of voters with 2,71,278, followed by Arni with 2,60, 571 voters. Vandavasi accounted for 2,28,346 voters, which has the lowest number.

Voters seeking inclusion in the voters list can contact the voters help desk at the District Collectorate and they can use the toll-free number 1950 to clear doubts regarding voters list, Mr. Kandasamy said.
