Eleven held in connection with Arakkonam murder

Eleven persons were arrested by the Arakkonam Town Police on Saturday in connection with the murder of Ramkumar alias Ramu (34), a financier of Suvalpettai in Arakkonam on Thursday.

According to police sources, Ramkumar and his friend Anbarasan were hacked by a 6-member gang near Ramkumar’s finance office in the Bazaar area of Arakkonam. Pachai, the gang leader had sought financial assistance to the tune of Rs.3 lakhs from the financier for securing the bail of four of his associates who were booked under the Goondas Act and lodged in jail.

Since Ramkumar refused to give the amount, the gang hacked him to death. Anbarasan who sustained injuries was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Chennai from where he has been discharged after treatment.
