The Election Commission has been informed about the vacancy that has arisen in the Tirupparankundram Assembly constituency owing to the death of AIADMK legislator A.K. Bose, Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo said here on Friday.
Replying to a query during an interaction with mediapersons, Mr. Sahoo said, “We have informed the Election Commission, and if the date [for a bypoll] is announced, we will initiate steps.”
Earlier, Mr. Sahoo convened a meeting of District Collectors and senior district administration officials to review the training being imparted to the officials with regard to preparatory work for the Parliamentary elections due in May 2019.
