DEO forwards proposal for purchase of periodicals

The District Employment Office (DEO) has forwarded a proposal to the Directorate of Employment and Training for purchase of 25 periodicals for the convenience of members of Study Circle who regularly utilise the reading resources to prepare for competitive examinations.

The provision for purchase of magazines has been revived after a gap of five to six years. The proposal for purchase of weeklies, fortnightlies and monthlies was readied and forwarded on the instruction of the Directorate of Employment and Training, District Employment Officer V. Vasudevan said.

Books worth Rs. 10 lakh are provided for reference of the daily learners at the District Employment Office that also subscribes to a number of dailies, both vernacular and English. Every year, the office is provided funds to the tune of Rs. 70,000 for purchase of new books.

But, the study circles formed at the level of Panchayat Union were not functioning well due to lack of manpower, it is learnt

On their part, the authorities have been focussing on conduct of free training programmes for aspirants of competitive examinations.
