Students of Velalar College of Engineering and Technology took out a cycle rally to create awareness on dengue fever at Thindal on Sunday. Mayor Malliga Paramasivam flagged off the rally organised by the College’s Rotaract Club and Youth Red Cross unit in the presence of Deputy Mayor K.C. Palanisamy, Secretary of Velalar Educational Trust S.D. Chandrasekar, and Principal M. Jayaraman.

Though there has been no dengue positive case reported in the district so far, the awareness was meant to be on guard during the rainy season, officials said.

Sensitisation activities are being carried out through health workers in panchayats, town panchayats and municipalities.
