January 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 08:26 am IST - Udhagamandalam:

A meeting of the Federation of Tea Cultivators Associations held here on Monday resolved to urge the Government to set right the shortcomings in tea auction system in Coonoor.

To highlight this, a demonstration would be staged opposite the Teaserve auction centre in Coonoor on January 21 with the support of various political parties.

By another resolution, it wanted the Government to improve the functioning of the Indcoserve, apex body of the Industrial Cooperative tea factories in the district.

An order of the High Court to fix a realistic price for the produce of the small tea growers should be implemented without delay. The Nilgiris District Bought Leaf Tea Manufacturers Association should help vacate in the Madras High Court the stay order obtained by it against the District Tea Price Monitoring Committee.
