Court grants CBI custody of Rajan

A Special Court for CBI cases here on Friday granted four days' CBI custody of C. Rajan, Additional Director-General, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), who was arrested on March 6 on the charges of taking a bribe of Rs.2 lakh from a person for defreezing a bank account.

Special Judge T. Ravindran passed the order stating that Mr. Rajan and his car driver Murugesan, who was also arrested, should be in CBI custody from March 9 to 12. They should be produced in court by 5 p.m. on March 12.

The petition seeking custody was filed by the CBI, Anti-Corruption Bureau. In his order, the Judge said the investigating officer had made a valid case for seeking police custody. The Judge directed the authorities to provide food and medical assistance to the duo.
