Counselling for ITI admission begins today

The counselling for admission into the courses offered by the three Government Industrial Training Institutes in the district for the academic year 2015-16 will be held at the Government ITI, Gorimedu from June 30 to July 6.

Applications were received from about 3,800 candidates, including girls, for admission into courses offered by the Government ITI (12 courses) and Government ITI for Women (8 courses), both in Gorimedu in the city and Government ITI, Mettur (7 courses) till June 10, the deadline for submission of filled up applications.

These ITIs offered two-year and one-year courses in various trades and the basic qualification for admission is pass in Standard X and Standard VIII. According to the Principal of the Government ITI, Gorimedu, counselling for the special category students and Standard VIII pass students will be held on June 30 and July 1.

The Standard VIII pass candidates with marks aggregate ranging between 92.5 and 50 per cent can attend the counselling on June 30 and those with marks between 49.5 percent and below 38 per cent can attend the counselling on July 1.

The counselling for the Standard X pass candidates will be held as per the following schedule:

July 2: for candidates with marks between 99 per cent and 77.5 per cent; July 3: for candidates with marks between 77 per cent and 70 per cent;

July 4: for candidates with marks between 69.5 per cent and 64.5 per cent and July 6: for candidates with marks between 64 per cent and 59.5 per cent.

The counselling will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on all the days.

The call letters have already been sent to all the applicants and the counselling scheduled has already been displayed at the notice board in the Government ITI, Gorimedu.

The candidates who have not received the call letters could also appear for the counselling on the respective days based on the marks, the Principal said.
