Contest for children

Sports contest and entertainment tour of Sithannavasal formed part of the day-long programme organised to cheer up the children afflicted with AIDS / HIV positive by the Rotary Club of Pudukottai Maharani here on Sunday.

About 50 children with AIDS and HIV positive were taken to the rock-cut temple at Sithannavasal and exposed to the paintings and idols there.

Florence Jayabarathan, Correspondent of Mount Zion Higher Secondary School, S. Ramadoss, a paediatrician, Allirani Balaji, former president of Rotary Club of Tiruchi Shakthi, spoke. They all referred to the advanced treatment available in the present-day context and advised the students to set their goals for their career.

Rajalakshmi, president of Rotary Club of Pudukottai Maharani, and Padmini, a co-ordinator, said the objective was to provide entertainment to the children. A sustained effort would be taken in future to keep them cheerful and to infuse a sense of confidence to them.
