The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) jointly with the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India and TNAU organised a two-day conclave and exhibition focusing on export opportunities for niche agriculture products from Tamil Nadu. Various farmers produce organisations (FPOs) in Tamil Nadu displayed value added niche products produced by them in the exhibition, which have high export potential.

Even though India is an agrarian economy, the agricultural sector is contributing only 14% of total exports from the country and with Agri Export Promotion Policy by the Ministry of Commerce and announcement of a separate Agriculture Budget by the Tamil Nadu government, this sector expected to have more share to reach at least 20% by 2030, said Unnikrishnan K, Deputy Director General, FIEO.
