Collector S.A. Raman released the draft electoral roll for Vellore district on Tuesday. As per the roll, there are a total of 31,13,258 voters – 15,28,341 men, 15,84,810 women and 107 transgender voters – in the district.

According to a press release, the Election Commission of India (ECI) had directed to take up summary revision of electoral rolls with January 1, 2018 as the qualifying date.

Gudiyatham constituency has the highest number of voters with 2,73,052, followed by Sholinghur with 2,61,724 voters. Kilvaithinankuppam has the lowest number of voters with 2,12,247.

The draft electoral roll would be displayed at 1,627 polling stations from October 3 to 31. Public have been asked to verify if their names figured in the list.

Those seeking inclusion of names, deletion, modification and change of address within an assembly constituency can submit relevant application forms.

Applicants must submit recent colour photographs along with these forms as the ECI has ordered that black and white photographs would not be accepted.

The Collector has appealed to the public to make use of the special campaigns to be held on October 8 and 22.

The ECI has also ordered that grama sabha meetings should be held in all panchayats and the electoral roll of the respective panchayat should be read out at the meeting.

Accordingly, arrangements have been made to organise the grama sabha in all villages on October 7 and 21, he said, in the release.
