A diploma-holder was murdered near Sattankulam in the district on Friday night due to previous enmity.
Police said K. Praveen (20) of Ananthapuram near Sattankulam in the district had developed enmity with tea stall owner George of the same area over the election held two years ago for various positions in the diocese.
Whenever they were involved in heated arguments or clash, elders of the village doused the enmity through mediation.
Against this backdrop, Praveen and George came to the church in their village on Friday night for the annual celebrations.
When the celebrations were going on, Praveen and George entered into an argument that led to the stabbing of Praveen by his enemies.
With serious stab injuries on neck, chest and other places, Praveen was rushed to the Sattankulam government hospital, where he breathed his last.
The Sattankulam police are on the lookout for George and his friends Rajarathinam and Albert.
