Now, children below five years of age from across Tamil Nadu can enrol for Aadhaar from home and need not go to an enrolment centre, thanks to the Aadhaar kits scheme launched for Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) centres.
Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Tuesday launched several schemes through video conference, such as Aadhaar kits, which would be distributed to 434 ICDS officers across the State at a cost of ₹13.61 crore.
Each of the 1,302 Aadhaar kits would include computers, laptops, tablets and biometric equipment that would be used at the Permanent Aadhaar Enrolment Centres.
Pregnant women and lactating mothers can enrol themselves for Aadhaar from their villages, and the general public can enrol at the Permanent Enrolment Centres.
The Chief Minister launched the distribution of smartphones to anganwadi workers at a cost of ₹59 crore. Installed with Common Application Software, the smartphones would help anganwadi workers monitor the nutrition levels of children below five years of age, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
Mr. Palaniswami also inaugurated the reconstituted District Milk Producers Cooperative Unions at Namakkal and Tirupur, the new Regional Transport Office, constructed at a cost of ₹2.48 crore at Poonamallee, and buildings for the Transport Department, constructed at a cost of over ₹10 crore in various parts of the State.
