Surveillance has been increased with the installation of CCTV cameras at 11 locations in various parts of Kovilpatti to bring down crime and regulate vehicular traffic.

The facility was inaugurated by Kovilpatti Assistant Superintendent of Police Murali Rambha.

These cameras would act as an ‘invisible policing’, he said.

Installed with donor funding, any offender found moving in a suspicious manner could be detected and nabbed. Incidence of hit-and-run, chain snatching, eve-teasing or trouble-mongers creating nuisance to the public could be prevented, Mr. Rambha told The Hindu .

While three CCTV cameras had been installed on Manthithoppu road, another three fixed near Kovilpatti old bus stand. Besides, locations such as Thilagaraj point, Market road, East Park road and West Park road were also brought under scanner.
