NIT’s CETransE
hosts seminar
The Centre of Excellence in Transportation Engineering (CETransE) of the Department of Civil Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchi, organised a conference on “Transportation systems engineering and management (CTSEM-2015)”.
Kuncheria. P. Issac, Vice-Chancellor, Kerala Technological University, spoke about the impact of air pollution in India and the steps needed to reduce it. Already 31 per cent of Indians were living in urban areas and the figure was expected to cross 50 per cent by 2030.
Research should concentrate on developing new material and technologies to conserve scarce resources, he said.
Tom. V Mathew, Professor, IIT-Bombay, spoke on the challenges in transportation, engineering, and the current trends in research. S. Moses Santhakumar, Head CETransE and Chair, CTSEM-2015, said the centre was established in 2013 with a vision of creating sustainable transportation technologies and infrastructure for optimal national and societal impact by shaping professional transportation engineers.

success, students told
Perseverance and self-confidence are the mantras for a successful life, said actor Shanthnoo Bhagyaraj while speaking at the annual day of TRP Engineering College.
S. Antonyraj, Chief Executive Officer, Windcare India Pvt Ltd., said that upcoming engineers should be more adaptable to the prevailing technologies and have a focused vision.

C. Muthamizhselvan, governing council member, M. Rajendran, campus director, R. Mahendran, general manager, and Venkatesan, CAO, were present. Mr. Shanthnoo and Mr. Antonyraj presented offer letters to 201 students who got placed in various companies through campus and off-campus interviews. Students who excelled in academics and sports were felicitated.

Karthikesan, Director, ISRO Propulsion Complex, in his graduation day address at MNSK College of Engineering in Pudukottai. Positive technological breakthroughs promise innovative solutions to the most pressing global challenges of our times, right from resource scarcity to global environmental change.
He advised the youth to align themselves with the latest technological developments in their field of choice.
“Set your aim high and work towards realising them. In the process, bring glory not only to yourselves but also to your parents.
“And you should contribute your mite towards national development and improving the life of your fellow beings,” he added.

Speaking at the 19th College Day of A.V.C. College of Engineering, Mayiladuthurai, M. Thiyagarajan, Managing Director, Alpha - Imager Group of Companies, Bengaluru, urged tje students to utilise their learning environment to improve their aptitude to become pioneer of their field.
N. Vijayarangan, chairman (in-charge), AVC group of Institutions, presided over the programme.
