Campaign bus to promote road safety

Launching of mobile awareness campaign bus, two-wheeler awareness rally and photo exhibition marked the inauguration of the Road Safety Week in the city on Sunday.

Highways and Minor Ports Minister Edappadi K. Palanisamy was the chief guest on the occasion.

The Minister flagged off the two-wheeler rally at the new bus stand. Drivers of State Transport Corporation, school students and students of the driving schools participated in the rally in large numbers. They carried placards underlining the importance of using helmets while riding two-wheelers, avoiding footboard travel and strictly following the road rules etc.

Mr. Palanisamy distributed pamphlets on road rules to auto drivers, State Transport Corporation drivers and the common people.

K. Maharabushanam, Collector, presided over the function. Regional Transport Officers Jaya Gowri, Senthilnathan, Ravikumar, Subramani, Rajendran and other officials were present.
