Cages placed to trap leopard

The Forest Department has placed two cages at Thuppukuttipettai near Gudalur to trap a leopard.

According to sources, people residing in and around Thuppukuttipettai complained that many of their goats had been killed by a carnivore, presumed to be a leopard.

Another bear

Residents of Thothamukkai near Kotagiri, where a bear was shot dead recently, have informed Forest officials that another bear was on the prowl in the area. Sources said that Hulikal near Coonoor has been gripped by a tiger scare following the killing of a panther cub by a tiger.
