‘Bus passengers should be humane’

The need to cultivate the habit of offering seats to the differently abled, the ailing, the aged and pregnant women while travelling in buses was stressed at a programme organised to mark the observance of Road Safety Week at Gudalur on Wednesday.

It was organised jointly by the Centre for Consumer, Human Resource and Environment Protection (CCHREP) and the Transport Department.

Addressing the gathering, Manager, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC), Gudalur, Guruthalachalam said that bus passengers should be humane. Urging people particularly students to exercise utmost caution while crossing roads, he said that they should avoid footboard travel.

CCHREP president S.Sivasubramaniam, who presided, said that people should take such programmes seriously.

The headmaster, Government Higher Secondary School, Gudalur, Robert also spoke.
