Woollen blankets were gifted to 20 aged persons by Rekchand, businessman of Arcot on behalf of his father Ugamchand of Chennai in memory of his grandfather Mahaveer Chand at the Pongal celebrations organised at the Red Cross Health Centre run by the Katpadi sub-branch of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Vellore district branch here on Tuesday.
M. Vasanthi, Sub-Collector, Vellore and president of the Katpadi IRCS sub branch presided over the celebrations and distributed sugarcane and Pongal to the visitors. S.N. Janardhanan, honorary secretary of the sub branch welcomed the gathering.
