The State Bharatiya Janata Party Youth wing demanded CBI probe into the death of R. Vishnupriya, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tiruchengode.
According to a resolution adopted at the two-day State executive committee meeting of the party which concluded at Yercaud on Wednesday, the death of Vishnupriya has led to various suspicions among the common people. The chances of fair probe by Crime Branch CID seem to be remote.
Another resolution took exception to the statement of Minister for Electricity and Prohibition Natham Viswanathan in the Assembly that there is no change in the policy of the State Government on the prohibition issue. The Tamil Nadu Government should take a cue from Kerala and take initiative to introduce total prohibition in a phased manner, it said.
The meeting said that more than 35 per cent of the post of language teachers is lying vacant in the government schools in the State. The government should take steps to fill all the vacancies, the resolution said.
K.S. Kavin Kamal Kumar, president of the State unit of the BJP Youth Wing, presided over the executive committee meeting. Tamilisai Soundararajan, state president of the BJP, delivered the valedictory address.
