People of Tamil Nadu, who were unsuccessfully searching for a political change since 1967, would soon find the ‘right remedy’ in the Bharatiya Janata Party, Union Minister of State for Finance and Highways Pon. Radhakrishnan said on Tuesday.

Addressing a public meeting organised here by former Minister Nainar Nagenthran, who joined the BJP recently, Mr. Radhakrishnan said the ‘dark age of Tamil Nadu’ was still continuing as both the Dravidian parties had “ruined the administration through corruption and mismanagement.”

The Tamils, who reposed faith alternatively in the DMK and the AIADMK, were unsuccessfully searching for an able administration that could be provided only by the BJP. “After providing an able and corruption-free administration in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving transparent governance to the entire nation now. Hence, the BJP promises to provide an efficient administration to take Tamil Nadu to unprecedented heights,” Mr. Radhakrishnan said.

He came down heavily on the DMK for opposing NEET and Navodaya Vidyalaya.

Mr. Radhakrishnan also criticised the AIADMK government for not handing over the Tirunelveli–Tiruchendur, Valliyoor– Tiruchendur, Kanniyakumari–Chennai East Coast Road to the Union government for upgrading as national highways.

“Though the Centre is ready to invest ₹10,000 crore for upgrading the Kanniyakumari-Chennai East Coast Road into 4-lane national highway, the State government is yet to hand over these stretches. Hence, the project is getting delayed,” the Union Minister said.

BJP general secretary P. Muralidhara Rao and State president Tamilisai Soundararajan were among those who participated in the meeting.
