June 14, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - NAGERCOIL:

The BJP has no faith in by-elections in Tamil Nadu, as all such elections in the past were not conducted properly. Hence, the BJP had decided to boycott the R.K. Nagar by-election, said Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Pon. Radhakrishnan here on Saturday.

Addressing reporters after inaugurating a high-mast lamp at Chungankadai junction on the Nagercoil-Thiruvananthapuram National Highway, the Unin Minister said that the party was preparing for the 2016 Assembly election.

Mr. Radhakrishnan said that the Union government was taking steps to solve the problem of fertilizer shortage and efforts would be made to establish a fertilizer unit in Chennai. The Union government was also ready to allocate funds for de-silting ponds in Kanyakumari district, he said.

The high-mast lamp was commissioned at a cost of Rs. 2 lakh allocated from his Member of Parliament Local Area Development Fund.
