Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association (TNPWAA) and Untouchability Eradication Front will be jointly organising a Beef Festival in Tiruvannamalai on November 1 to assert the right of citizens to choose their food.

This event is organised in response to Dadri Killings in which a mob attacked a Muslim family in Dadri in the state of UP on 28 September on the suspicion that the family consumed beef and Mohammad Akhlaq of the family was killed in the attack.

The Beef fest is to be organised in front of Anna Statue in Tiruvannamalai town, said S.Karuna, State Deputy General Secretary of the TNPWAA. He said that they would bring in cooked beef briyani and distribute it to participants on and off the dais and also eat there. Apart from serving the beef briyani, there would be poet reciting, cultural events and honouring of butchers, Mr.Karuna added.
