Awareness run on October 11

Dr. K. Shantha Breast Cancer Foundation (SBCF) and Dr. G.Viswanathan CBCC Cancer Centre will be organising their annual half-marathon and five-kilometre run on October 11, as part of the ‘Pink October’ campaign to raise awareness of the disease.

The event has competitive and non-competitive sections, and is open to school and college students, residents and employees of organisations based in Tamil Nadu.

The 21.5 kilometre half-marathon which is routed from Dr.G.Viswanathan Speciality Hospitals, Mambazhasalai to K.A.P. Viswanatham School, Thillai Nagar, carries cash prizes worth Rs. 3 lakhs, said a press release. Eligible male and female participants should be aged over 16 years and must present a medical fitness certificate from an accredited doctor issued within the past three months. A registration fee of Rs. 200 will be charged.

The non-competitive 5 kilometre run from Uzhavar Sandhai, Anna Nagar to K.A.P. Viswanatham School is open to male and female participants over 14 years of age, and has a registration fee of Rs. 50 per head.
