Auction of seized vehicles on May 18

The police department will be auctioning the vehicles seized by it. These were seized in various criminal cases which have been disposed of by the judicial magistrates’ courts in Vellore district, at the Police Training School ground inside the fort here at 4 p.m. on May 18. The auction is being held on the orders of the Madras High Court .

According to a note from the Superintendent of Police, Vellore district, 262 automobile vehicles comprising 258 two-wheelers, two lorries, one car and one auto-rickshaw will come up for auction. Persons interested in bidding for the vehicles can have a look at the seized vehicles kept in the various police stations in the district till 4 p.m. between May 13 and 15.

Those participating in the auction will have to pay an entry fee of Rs.50. Those who are successful in the bid will have to pay 14.5 per cent tax in addition to the bid amount. They will be given a receipt which will be treated as the vehicle ownership document, the press note stated.
