An Indian Army recruitment rally will be organised by Army Recruiting Office, Tiruchi, under the auspices of Headquarters Recruiting Zone, Chennai, at the District Sports Stadium from June 4 to 15.

The candidates will be screened for various categories that include Soldier (General Duty), Soldier (Tradesman), Soldier (Technical), Soldier (Nursing Assistant), Nursing Assistant (Veterinary) and Soldier (Clerk / Storekeeper technical), said a press release issued here on Friday.

Brigadier S.N. Dalvi, SM, Deputy Director General Recruiting (States), Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Union Territory of Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar Group of Islands, said that about 14,000 candidates were expected to attend the rally from Nagapattinam, Ariyalur, Tiruchi, Karur, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Perambalur, Pudukottai, Sivaganga, Ramanad, Virudhunagar, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, and Karaikal district in the Union Territory of Puducherry.

He urged engineering students to come forward to join the defence services to serve the nation.

On salary structure, he said that on completion of training, the soldier would draw anywhere between Rs. 24,000 and Rs. 35,000 a month depending on the place of posting.

Free ration, clothing and free travel to home station once a year would be other facilities, he added.

The recruitment process would include verification of documents, physical fitness tests and medical examination at the rally venue followed by a common entrance examination in July for medically-fit candidates.

Brig Dalvi said that recruitment process would be transparent and fair.

Stringent measures are being followed for ensuring right opportunity for eligible candidates. He appealed to the aspiring candidates and their parents and relatives not to give credence to any touts or middlemen who attempt to exploit innocent and economically weaker youth through false promises on enrolment opportunities in the Army.

“Only sincere preparation for the rally will help candidates to get selected,” he said.

Later, accompanied by S. Palanisamy, he inspected the stadium campus.
