Applications invited from minority students for scholarships

The Tamil Nadu government has invited online applications from minority community students studying in Standards XI and XII, ITI, ITC, Polytechnic Colleges, and studying in undergraduate, postgraduate, M.Phil. and research programmes in various colleges for the award of post-matric scholarships for the year 2015-16.

According to a release from R. Nanthagopal, Collector of Vellore, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Sikh, Parsee and Jain students studying in the above classes/colleges/programmes, whose annual parental income did not exceed Rs. 2 lakh, and who obtained a minimum of 50 per cent marks in the previous year’s public examination are eligible for the scholarships.

Interested students should apply online through the website, www.scholarships.gov.in, and upload the necessary documents to the website. The last date for submission of applications is September 15 for new scholarships and October 10 for renewal of scholarships.

The students are requested to mention the correct bank account number and IFSC code since the scholarship amount would be directly credited to their bank account. The applications of those who give wrong bank details would be rejected.

The heads of educational institutions have been requested to verify the applications as and when received by them, and forward the eligible applications online to the District Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Office in the Collectorate before October 5 (new scholarships) and October 31 (renewal). The Collector has requested the eligible students to apply on time and avail of the scholarship
