The Annamalai University held its fourth Graduation Day ceremony for African students recently. University Vice-Chancellor distributed the graduation certificates to 145 students.
The programme was attended by the Rwanda High Commissioner and the University Registrar J. Vasanthakumar.
A peep into Matlab applications
The Annamalai University’s Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering along with the Department of Chemical Engineering hosted a short-term training programme on ‘Matlab Applications in Science and Engineering.’
The short course on Matlab which is an advanced technical computing language has been approved by the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE). Dr. S. Velusami, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, delivered the presidential address.
Dr. J. Vasanthkumar, University Registrar, inaugurated the programme.
Dr. S. Somasundaram, organising secretary, Dr. S.P. Natarajan, Head of the Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Dr. P. Kanthabhabha, Head, Department of Chemical Engineering and Dr. N.N. Praboo, organising secretary, participated.
Pooling in to provide scholarships
A programme was held recently at the Dr. SJS Pauls Memorial College of Engineering and Technology to commemorate the SP-Helping Drops initiative of the college.
The initiative, named after the Chairman of the college, Sam Paul, takes inspiration from the saying, ‘Little drops of water make the mighty ocean.’
All faculty members and students of the college contribute one rupee per day throughout the year. The collected fund is used to provide financial assistance to academically bright but economically needy students of the college, according to a press release.
The selected students are given an amount of Rs. 25, 000 as scholarship.
At the programme held last month, ten students were awarded a cheque of Rs. 25,000 each in the presence of college Director A. Ravichandran and Principal P.K. Pratapchandran.
