All set for the grand start of Mahamaham

The Mahamaham 2016 will be off to a grand start with the ritualistic flag hoisting at Shiva temples associated with the once-in-12-years event here on Saturday.

The flag hoisting (dvajarohaam) at Vishu temples involved in the Mahamaham Teerthavari proceedings will take place on Sunday.

Teerthavari festivities

The flag hoisting marks the commencement of the Teerthavari festivities in Sri Adi Kumbeswarar, Sri Kasi Viswanathar, Sri Abimukeswarar, Sri Gowthameswarar, Sri Ekambareswarar, Sri Nageswarar, Sri Someswarar, Sri Adikambhatta Viswanathar, Sri Koteeswarar, Sri Kalahastheeswarars, Sri Baanapureeswarar and Sri Amirthakalasanathar temples.

Thanjavur district administration, Kumbakonam Municipality and all the line departments concerned are primed to host the fantastic event in which several lakhs of devotees from all over India are poised to participate.

Culmination

The event will culminate in the holy dip in the Mahamaham tank at the auspicious hour on February 22.
