Aid for fishermen

Collector Sajjansigh R. Chavan distributed Rs.1 lakh each as compensation to the families of two fishermen who died, at the monthly grievances day programme for fishermen at the collectorate here on Friday.

Officials gave replies to 123 petitions received during the previous meeting. A proposal to train young fishermen in scuba diving and engaging helicopters for searching the missing fishermen had been sent to the State government, the officials said.

Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan, who presided, explained schemes being implemented in fishermen villages.

District Revenue Officer A. Udhayakumar, Deputy Director of Fisheries Department Mohan, officials from PWD representatives of fishermen associations participated.
