AIADMK clarifies on party organ

The AIADMK has distanced itself from party organ Dr. Namadhu MGR, in the wake of the latter publishing columns critical of the BJP government at the Centre.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Friday, State Finance Minister D. Jayakumar insisted that the State government did not share the views expressed by Dr. Namadhu MGR on the Centre.

At a time when both factions of the ruling party are taking a cautious approach to the BJP-led Central government, Dr. Namadhu MGR has come down heavily on the Centre, accusing it of being more concerned about cattle than the country.

Mr. Jayakumar also claimed that some figures from the faction led by O. Panneerselvam would be joining the ruling faction soon.

He asserted that the next Assembly poll would be held only in 2021, indicating that the present government would complete its term.
