Admission under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009, for 2015-2016 has begun in Kanyakumari district from May 4, says a release from Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan.
The RTE Act mandates reservation of 25 per cent seats at the entry-level classes in private schools for children belonging to disadvantaged groups.
Private schools except the ones with minority status had been asked to put up an announcement on notice boards inviting applications to fill the 25 per cent seats on May 2.
The distribution of applications will go on till May 19. The last date to submit filled-in applications is till 5 p.m. on May 19. The release said that the guidelines for admission under RTE Act and details of government orders are available on www.tnmatricschools.com. The forms are also available at the offices of the CEO, CEO (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan), District Education Officer, Inspector of Matriculation Schools, DEEO and Assistant Elementary Education Officer.
