Acharya appointed special counsel in Assets case

The Karnataka government on Friday issued notification appointing senior counsel B.V. Acharya, as special counsel to appear on behalf of the State government to argue the Special Leave Petition (SLP) to be filed in the Supreme Court challenging the Karnataka High Court’s verdict acquitting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in a disproportionate assets case.

Advocate Sandesh J. Chouta has been appointed to assist Mr. Acharya in the case.

Supreme Court’s advocate-on-record, Joseph Aristotle S., has been authorised to submit the SLP. This notification was issued following a decision taken in this regard by the State Cabinet.
