Abandoned girl child sent to Madurai

A girl child, found abandoned at Nakkeranvayal village near Annavasal on Sunday, was handed over to the representatives of a private charity institution in Madurai on Monday. The girl child was first sighted by the villagers who alerted the police. The Tirugokarnam police in co-ordination with the Anti-Traffiking unit, Childline and the Child Protection Committee, conducted some preliminary enquiry about the child. S. Ganesh, District Collector, handed over the child to the representatives of a private charity trust based in Madurai.
